The current course for yr 11 is the last year where it will run in its current format. This course enables students to study Language and Literature combined and receive two separate GCSEs at the end of the two years.
- AS English Literature is an exciting opportunity to explore the world of literature. Students studying AS Anglish literature should enjoy reading for pleasure and have reached a minimum 'B' grade at GCSE in English Literature.
GCSE English literature offers students the opportunity to engage with both difficult and fundamental ideas relating to life through the study of classic and modern literature.
GCSE English combines the study of language and literature in interesting and varied ways. All manner of texts from poetry to plays to newspaper articles to films are studied.

A2 Literature allows more flexibility than the AS level. It invites students to select their own texts for comparison in their coursework task and includes a 'synoptic unit' which involves an end of course examination which draws together all of the skills practised throughout the 2 years.
